Linn County Small Woodlands Association 2020 Seedling Sale

The Linn County Chapter of the Oregon Small Woodlands Association (LCSWA) is proud to announce its 25th Annual Seedling Sale. Proceeds will be used to fund Linn County 4-H forestry awards and college scholarships for students seeking a degree related to forestry or natural resources. What a great investment in our forestry future!
The sale will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2020from 8 am until noon (or while supplies last), at the Linn County Fair and Expo Center, Santiam Building, 3700 Knox Butte Road, Albany, just east of I-5 at exit  234.  In addition to seedlings, there will also be seedling protector tubes with sticks available on a first-come, first-served basis. Tubes are useful for protecting your seedlings from animal browse.
Same day purchases may be paid for with either cash or check.
For the best selection, we encourage you to pre-order and pay for your seedlings using the attached order form. Your pre-paid order will reserve the seedlings for you. We will have them packed and ready for pick-up on sale day between 8 am and 11 am. Simply fill out the order form, include a check made payable to LCSWA for the amount due and mail to LCSWA, c/o Bonnie Marshall, 705 SW Larkspur Ct, Sublimity, OR 97385. All pre-orders need to be submitted by January 18, 2020.
Our seedlings come directly from the nursery and will be either bare root or plugs. If available, we have included the size description on the order form. Those listed as 'plug' were raised in the nursery and may come as a small, medium, or large 'plug'. Seedling sizes such as 1-0, 1-1 and 2-0 indicate years grown in their original seed bed (the first number) followed by years in a transplant bed (the second number). Where possible, we have listed the height of the seedling in inches. Seedlings native to our area are marked with an asterisk on the order form. Due to limited supply and continued high demand, Coast Redwood orders are limited to ten or fewer this year.
Also attached is an information sheet which provides more specific information about the plants available such as origin, height, sun and soil preference, bird and wildlife value, and other highlights about the plant. An information table will be set up at the sale where you can view plant samples, see pictures and read additional information about the seedlings. An OSU trained Master Woodland Manager will be there to answer questions and identify which trees may be best suited for a particular location.
The Local Woods Fair will be held in conjunction with the seedling sale again this year. Artisans will be selling their wooden wares and various organizations will be present providing useful information to small woodland owners. For more information about the Local Woods Fair, contact Mary at
brendle@wildblue.net or (541) 367-2845.
For questions regarding the 2020 Seedling Sale, please contact Bonnie Marshall at bonniem@wvi.com or (503) 769-6510.
